September has always felt like a month of transition — the start of a new school year, shifting routines, and a gentle nudge to reset before the holiday rush begins.
This month, two themes kept showing up for me: collaboration takes courage and communication creates connection.
For me, September was filled with reminders of how much courage it truly takes to collaborate and how vital open communication is — not just for teens, but also for parents, educators, and leaders.
Of course, we’ve all experienced and felt September’s heaviness. The world can feel overwhelming right now — the uncertainty, the instability, the constant stream of things we can’t control.
Kids and teens are feeling it too. For many of them, this can stir up heightened anxiety.
That’s why I believe, more than ever, that our daily acts of courage and open lines of communication matter. They’re the tools that help younger generations navigate a world that so often feels turbulent.
They remind us all that while we can’t fix everything “out there,” we can create steadiness, safety, and connection in our own homes and hearts.
Behind the scenes this month, I’ve been working on something very close to my heart (more on that soon 😉).
What I learned in the process is that collaboration isn’t always easy. It’s not just about working together — it’s about trusting, letting go of control, and believing that something greater can be created with others.
That takes courage.
It takes courage to:
When we lean into collaboration with courage, doors open, ideas flow, and energy multiplies.
It’s a powerful reminder that none of us are meant to do this work — or this life — alone.
I was reminded that it’s easy to stay in our own lane, but true growth happens when we open up, share ideas, and let different voices shape the path forward.
The second thing September highlighted for me is the importance of open communication, especially between parents and their kids.
I saw, again and again, that when parents and tweens/teens open up to each other — even in small, imperfect ways — confidence grows on both sides.
Contrary to the pressure we often put on ourselves, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Even small, honest check-ins can build trust and closeness.
What matters most is starting the conversation and keeping the door open.
When that happens:
September taught me that courage and communication are the cornerstones of confidence.
As I step into October, I’m carrying these reminders with me:
✨ What was one big takeaway September taught you?
Take a moment to journal it for yourself — it’s a powerful way to bring closure to this month and step into the next one with clarity.
Here’s to stepping into October with even more courage, connection, and confidence!
Keep the positive energy flowing!
